Reddit Beta Releases Custom Subreddits
If you happened to read the Reddit blog today, or if your particularly observant, you might have noticed a few changes on Reddit.
“We added a handful of new features last night. Among them is the ability for users to create their own reddits.”
This is an interesting addition, similar to what Mixx introduced, and adds some exciting opportunities to spice up the way users enjoy Reddit.
There will be three different types of subreddits that you can make, allowing a large range of options.
Public Subreddits:
Public subreddits will be just like the current Reddit subreddits. Any user will be able to view them and submit articles into them. You may use this option if you believe Reddit is missing a major group that is should have, like a Ron Paul Subreddit.
Restricted Subreddits:
Restricted subreddits will allow all users to read the submissions but will only allow invited members to be able to comment, vote, and submit articles.
Private Subreddits:
Private subreddits are just as they sound… private. Only invited members can participate or even view a private subreddits.

Digg Says “You Are a Zero No More”
Digg went down shortly today and many have wondered what changes, if any, were released in the short time it was down.
One of the most obvious changes people will notice is the addition of a big “Check Spelling” button on the second page of the submission process.

Friday night, January 18, 2008, Shoemoney, Greg Harnett, and myself attended the 2008 TechCrunch Crunchies Awards. It was really a great event and we all had a good time.
QGYH2 Reaches Reddit Record: 100,000 Karma
QGYH2, Reddit’s most active member, reached a monumental achievement this week by receiving an amazing 100,000 karma level on Reddit. A feat so big that Reddit even recognized the user by adding qgyh2 (100,000) to the Reddit logo in the upper left hand corner if their site.

Karma is one of the only metrics of personal success that is tracked on Reddit and identifies the overall quality of the content that has been submitted by a user.
