Gmail Removes IMAP Services?

It is pretty early in the ordeal but about 10 minutes ago I began to get errors from my Outlook, which uses Google’s Gmail with the IMAP service.

It is now telling me “IMAP is not available for your account. (Failure)” and will no longer connect to Gmail.

I jumped on the web and logged into my account, only to find that the option for using IMAP has been removed from Gmail’s “Forwarding and POP” settings.

So has Google decided to drop the service or is it just a temporary bug to be fixed at a later date? I am not really sure yet but I will edit and let you know when I find out more.

Edit: Gmail’s IMAP has returned fully and was apparently just a bug.

I’m having the exact same problem with my account — I wonder if this is a hiccup or if Google has decided to turn off IMAP support without telling anyone…

I use 2 gmail accounts, one for business and one for personal. My personal gmail account downloads all messages through the business mail address through IMAP.

Both accounts still have IMAP available and on.
