Another issue that I've found is with StumbleUpon bookmarks. You know, the plugin stores all your stumbles as Firefox bookmarks by default (or at least it used to). Over time I've acquired literally thousands of bookmarks and they seemed to be slowing things down, with the "awesome bar" and overall. I ended up deleting them all and unchecking the option to store stumbles as bookmarks.
