Urls to Improve Your Reddit Experience
If you listen to me speak or read my blog often enough, then you know that I am a huge supporter of Reddit, one of the largest social news sites on the web.
I have regularly reviewed new features, and had the chance to test and provide feedback before they go live on the site.
Yet even after knowing the guys for a while now and getting a little better look at the inner workings of the site than most, I still learn something new about Reddit on a regular basis.
For instance… you would be amazed at how many various url structures will show you different and interesting ways to view content within Reddit.
Digg Tip #01 – Friending Too Fast
When building a new profile on Digg, do not immediately add friends, especially power users.
When you add someone on Digg, they are notified that they have a new fan. People tend to have a lot of fans and power users literally thousands.

That means you have only one shot to friend someone and have them friend you back before you become lost in the mix and never seen again.

Tips on Building Social Media Profiles
While at Pubcon this last November, Michael from WebProNews got me and Todd Malicoat to sit down for a few minutes and share some tips on creating a social media profile.
Apparently there was some confusion on which social media platforms we were talking about. To clarify, we were talking about social news and aggregation sites like Reddit, StumbleUpon, and Digg. We were not talking about sites like Facebook, Linkedin, or other similar social profile sites.

Social media is a broad term, so in theory the definition could vary from person to person based on what they use it for.

Wikipedia defines it more specifically as “tools for sharing and discussing information among human beings. The term most often refers to activities that integrate technology, telecommunications and social interaction, and the construction of words, pictures, videos and audio. This interaction, and the manner in which information is presented, depends on the varied perspectives and “building” of shared meaning among communities, as people share their stories and experiences.” But then Wikipedia is written by the masses anyhow.
