The holiday season is upon us… hell it has sneaked up and pretty much slapped you in the face at this point.
With less than 2 weeks until Christmas, and then just a few more days the New Year, it is time to start thinking about what you are thankful for.
If you are lucky enough to even be able to read this article, sip on a latte, and nibble on an early festive cookie, then you are doing a lot better than most around the world.
Don’t worry though… with this recession and hard economic times, I am not going to ask you to part with any of your hard earned money.
Instead I want to introduce you to a really innovative concept from the guys at Reddit, where instead of donating money to non-profits and charities, they ask that you instead donate a few hours of your skills and energy.
“So if you are a programmer, designer, artist, lawyer, geology professor, bacon cooker, or anyone else with a few hours to spend for a good cause please consider participating in this year’s Feed a Need charity drive.”
You can sign up and volunteer your time by visiting the ‘Feed A Need’ site at http://www.feedaneed.org.
Volunteers who work “for at least 2 hours on a Feed A Need charity project before the deadline on February 14th, 2009, are eligible for some great prizes.”
I think we can all agree that although time is valuable, we can find a way to give up 2 hours of our special skills and time for a good cause.
So get over and sign up for the ‘Feed A Need‘ Charity Program and give back a little to those in need during this holiday season.
If you happen to be a non-profit organization or know a good cause you would like to see potentially benefit from the volunteers, please head over and submit a non-profit of your own.
Also, if you are a company or individual who would like to donate prizes to be given to the winning volunteers, you can email Reddit by clicking here: ‘Email Reddit‘
