I was sitting at my computer last week after a long afternoon of social media and client calls. I had been sleepy all morning and decided to close my eyes and relax for a bit in my plush office chair, which my wife got for me on my last birthday.
I heard a strange noise and sat upright abruptly to find I could move nothing below my shoulders. It was as if I was paralyzed. I open my mouth to yell out for my wife, but my words would not come out. It was then that I noticed a small, simple looking, little alien standing on the edge of my desk.
At this point I jumped up and out of my short dream, realizing that I was probably going to be late meeting up with Alexis Ohanian, Steve Huffman, and the rest of the Reddit team at their office in downtown San Francisco.
After a quick tour of Wired, the Reddit team and I spent about 2 or 3 hours talking about weird things in Asia, Reddit’s new subreddits system, some new features and changes coming to Reddit.com, and even Digg a bit.
Amazingly we spent quite a bit of time talking about the evolution of the spammer, SEO, and Social Media Marketing. It was very interesting and I really felt the team listened and was willing to really discuss the various topics.
@Alexis made sure I didn’t leave empty handed, giving me a few shirts and one of the brand new ceramic alien wobble heads.
I really enjoyed the insight that the Reddit team was willing to share with me and the time they dedicated to really discussing some of the current issues in social media. I had visited the Digg offices once or twice before to do some feature testing, but it was nothing as cool as hanging out at Reddit.
Thanks Reddit.
Cool that you got to go and meet the guys, nice wobble head
