With so many popular social media communities, tools, and platforms out there, it is a nightmare to try to push anything across the board in social media.

No one wants to be that person who sends messages to their friends or colleagues asking them to Delicious, Sphinn, Mixx, Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, and possibly even hit Propeller for their recent content. Needless to say, that would make for a short lived friendship and possibly an ass kicking at your next meet up.

Luckily, Dan Zarrella has created a great social media tool at VOTRS.com that allows you make a short url with all the top social communities included, that you can send to a friend or colleague and influence the actions you desire.

Head over to http://votrs.com and follow the simple instructions, while selecting the social communities you want to include.

You will then get a quick glance at the current status of the URL in the selected social communities. So if it is submitted to Digg, it will say so and indicate the number of diggs the content has. If it is not, then it will provide you a link to go ahead and submit the content at that time.

Currently if you attempt to click on the submission links, it will take you there in the current screen. I am sure in the next update it will offer a new window or tab so you are not forced to back your way out after finishing your submission. For the time being just remember to hold down the control key or right click and open it in a new window or tab manually.

Now grab your shortened URL and feel free to share it will your friends and colleagues.

Viewers of the link have a very user friendly screen with the selected social community vote buttons available so they can vote or save your content with ease.

All in all the tool is nice and easy way to send a quick url and hopefully get the actions you want from your friends and colleagues. You can check it out in action for this post here – http://votrs.com/9ea391c7

I would suggest submitting your content to all of the places you select to use within this tool. This way the person you send the shortened url to is not forced to submit something for you. I would also recommend that you do not abuse or use this tool as a form of spamming. No one likes being spammed… even spammers.

I am not sure if this part of the site is meant to be open to the public but I am going to tell you about it anyway. There is also a page where you can quickly see the status of your content within the top social communities. Head over to the Social Media Scanner and enter in any url you are curious about.

You can easily see the breakdown on how the content is performing in the top social communities and submit the content if it not already submitted.
